i'm a lucky girl...!!

i must admit, staying with the parents during the week whilst still recovering from surgery isn't a bad thing - you get fed and watered, washed and powdered! please excuse the small caps as i'm still typing with one hand!

today mum took me into town, my first proper trip out in two weeks! i also treated myself to a lovely hairwash and trim at the hairdressers... nothing like nice hair to cheer you up!

anyhow... since we were ladies of leisure... lets face it, i can't run around at high speed at the moment... we bimbled into in a lovely shop in Chapel Street called Steckfensters which holds vintage treasures of all sorts and i came across this...

it's a lord nelson ware ceramic sugar sifter from the 1970's, brought for £6 by my mum for me. i really liked it. it's practical and different and i can't wait to use it! got to give it a clean first!

it's got a lovely pattern on the top as well
we also visited kitts corner which is a lovely little shop in chapel street that specialises in vintage clothing and jewellery and i came away with 3m of vintage 1970s liberty fabric for my stash! squealed with excitement when i came across it and only paid £9!!!!!!!

when i came home from town, i had another surprise! my dad, who is a very talented wood turner, had made me this...
Add caption
a new rolling pin, extra long, made from ash from a tree that came down in Newlyn Coombe in the mid 1980's.

excuse my knees! i had to take a photo of the end of the rolling pin with one hand!
he's scribed "newlyn ash" on one end, and a dedication on the other. Thanks dad, you're awesome! (he's also whipping up an amazing chicken tagine for tea tonight... I'll try to get the recipe out of him!

here's some of his work:

made from wood recovered from falmouth pier which burnt down a couple of years ago

a display of dads work at a local craft fair
wrist wise - all going well, new cast and new dressings and still stuck at a right angle, however i did buy a new sketch pad today to do some drawings over the next 6 weeks....

hope everyone is well, best wishes,

nic xoxo
